Incorporating
video into films was an important event, transpired at the
39th International film Festival in Germany in 1993, with
miss Angela Hardt as Festival Director.
The decision to permit video performances was necessitated
by the procurement between the film and video media, the influence
of cinema on the video medium and finally the impact of video
on the order films. Artist to- day are specialists in both
techniques the television is quite a matured industry and
the Director of the "International short Festival"
wanted the video also to follow suit.
In Sri Lanka the Television is a dominating
factor and competes successfully, with all other electronic
media, impacting Entertainment, Education and Enrichment.
Television has emerged superb in another Arts. Its progress
in the island has proved unique and its growth formidable,

The television media has a sweeping effect or society and the
younger generation in particular to geeing the epithet that
it is the third parent, slim income, derived from films has

films directed by Veteran Lester James Peiris along with the
Co-operation of late Mr. Sumathipala, to name a few as a white
flowers for the Dead, Rivers Bank, will be ever green in the
memory o masses at large. Mrs. Milina Sumathipala's diligence,
devotion and dexterity in spearheading such festivals of magnitude
and extravaganza and her humble services in the field, need
no exaggeration or emphasis at all.
